Stop doing the main mission and do some other side quests... There are SOOO many to do. Try to complete the whole arena, and all of the Guilds.. that will take you some time. Also, just have fun and slay people in the cities when you get bored.Oblivion: When does it get fun?
The graphics for this game are great and were amazing for the time. If your not having fun return it. I enjoyed the game very much, and i like the setting. No it isn't a hardcore RPG, but it can go very deep. Do you make poisons and apply them to arrows? Do you use magic and summon armor and weapons to use? '
Personally I hated Oblivion. Gave it a shot on the 360 when it came out on it. Gave it another go on the PC awhile after for the Game of the Year edition as I got it really cheap. Still found it incredibly dull and the actual moving around in the gameworld made me nauseous.
I know what you mean. I would recommend bioshock though. I bought it over the summer and the game is bad compared to fallout 3 imo.
Ok so I picked up Oblivion at GameStop over the weekend and I have about 6 or so hours invested into the game and I have yet to really have any fun yet. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I feel like I'm doing nothing but running around talking to people and occasionally slaying some ugly, yet easy, beast. I'm not new to RPG's either, but maybe this is just the wrong kind of RPG for me, I dunno. I almost feel like the game doesn't explain itself very well, and I feel overwhelmed with all these items, menus, and dialog I have to go through. WTF am I doing wrong. I'm seriously about to return it and get something like BioShock instead. After hearing so much good about this game I expected more. And I know the game is 4 years old but I'm not seeing how these graphics are anything above average from other games that came out around the same time. Also, kinda random, but how does a wolf make a metal to metal contact noise when attacking me?
RPG series like the Elder scroll series are really about discovering tons of ways to go about playing the game. you really should have looked at some reviews before buying the game to see if it was an RPG you can get into.
I thought the same. Logged 2 hours and returned it.
I had a great time with the game. Played it for months. It's not non-stop action because the game is so open. You choose what quests you want to do when. But if you're looking for lots of quests that are pretty much all fighting do the Dark Brotherhood or Fighters Guild. They'll get you into the game.
Just return, it's not your type of game. Did you join the guilds, are leveling up your skills, are you exploring the caves? The game was most fun for me playing as a stealth class. Before you return it though, maybe you should use a guide or something to get an idea of how to play because you sound like you don't really know what your doing. The game is boring if you don't understand how to play it.
In my experience, IT DOESN'T.
I thought the same. Logged 2 hours and returned it.
You haven't seen anything from the game if you played it for 2 hours. Do yourself a big favor and try the next great game for real before returning it. Or prehaps.. you know.. see what kind of game it is before buying it.
Once you're out of the sewer, you are seeing more or less much of what Oblivion has to offer. If you haven't enjoyed it after 6 hours, chances are you probably won't. It happens - even the most highly rated games out there aren't going to please everyone.
I think the game can be hit or miss for people. I got it last weekend, my guys about level 14, and I've just loved it so far, but just about know I'm starting to get bored of it. I do see peoples complaints about the game... but I had so much fun with it, I didnt start the main quests til level 12, instead became Archmage of the Mages Guild and Grand Champion of the arena first. Its just so damn openended, you can just do w/e the hell you want. Make your own spells, i got the Skeleton key so I can go wherever I want basically and steal stuff, etc etc.I think the only problem once you play the game for a while is the scaling leveling, which is extremely hit or miss (mostly miss). it starts out great, it is just awesome (imo) that at level one you can go experience anywhere in Cyrodil, enter the arena for money, etc etc. it removes a lot of limitations. It does come back to haunt, as i'm always sad when I level up, because the game just gets tougher. I actually didnt sleep for a while, and so literally became archmage of the mages guild at level 4, slept in his bed, gained a level, tried it again to see if levels had stacked up... and indeed I went to level 12. while normally leveling up is exciting... it just carries a sense of dread that you'll probably need to set the difficulty slider a bit down. However, after 6 hours or whatever if your not having fun, it might not be the right game for you. the main problems i've noticed with the game are as a result of the game wearing on it getting boring. If early on its boring, try joining a guild or fighting in the arena, can be a nice change of pace. after that its just not the game for you.

that's how i feel about it.How can you just go out and spend money on a game your not atleast 80% sure your going to love it?
Maybe you just don't like the game.

Sometimes you just have money to burn and decide to give it a shot by the reviews on the box or just by the synopsis. Oblivion is a very cheap name now so I can understand giving it a shot before researching it. Especially since most people know all the critical acclaim it got. Doesnt mean you have to like it once you buy it, so yeah I say return it ASAP.
I sort of felt the same way. But after I got through the first part, if you have been paying attention the story really begins to develop. Also, you begin to get cool powers and persuasion with the mercenaries becomes fun. While I wouldnt go close to saying its the best game this generation, I may say it is the deepest. There are just so many things you can do, its incredible.
Oblivion is a game you probably love from the first minute you play it... or not at all.
I have not yet tried to join any guilds or gone to the arena. I have been sticking to the main quest line because of something.I read saying to do the quest before the side missions because the main quest will become too hard? I wish the game would explain all the menus a bit better. I feel as if the game said to me 'here you go, figure it out'. I was hoping it would be more like fable or something.
When I left the sewers it got fun. Just think about how big the world is, with hundreds of quests to do. Once you play other RPGs
you will understand how great it is. My suggestion is start with thedark brotherhood guild first.
