Xbox 360 Disc Cracking

Recently i decided to put Gears of War 2 CD in to play it and to my dismay there was huge cracks on the inner circle... i rubbed my nail across it because i didnt believe it and a huge chip of plastic came off...I checked all my other games and they have tiny ''chips'' witch leads me to believe this is caused by inserting the games back into the plastic casing...Anyone else have this problem? me personaly i treat my games realy well and most of my games have no scratchs on the actual disc except for the inner circle. I never thought twice about ''Clicking'' them back into the plastic case but now that im seeing this im going to be alot more carefull. This thread also servs as a heads up to people who ''Think'' there treating there discs verry well, feedback would be much apreciated.I have over 30 games and this is realy disapointing.Xbox 360 Disc Cracking
Yeah thats only really happened to me once, but it was with Spiderman 3... thank god lol.Xbox 360 Disc Cracking
I have not seen this yet with 360 games but I have not had them long. This did happen with my Sonic Shuffle game. I think it still works for the moment.
I just noticed my Guitar Hero: Metallica disc had a crack on the inner circle. I just called up GameStop and they said they'd swap it. These plastic cases have design flaws though because that's more or a likely the reason why the disc's crack. I had 2 Halo 3 disc's that cracked in the center also.
That happened with both my Fallout 3 and CoD4 luckily it was within the 30-Day warranty and i found them defective, so i got new ones. no problem since
UPDATE: I just installed my badly cracked GoW2 cd onto my Harddrive and seems to be playing fine.. thank god for installing.
Yeah, you have to click the disk into place before shutting the case or it can crack.
Yeah, you have to click the disk into place before shutting the case or it can crack.
No you got it wrong. The center of the case have little teeth witch are there to hold the cd in place. What i use to do was just press the disc into these teeth instead of pressing them down and allowing the disc to fall into place... at least thats what i suspect is the cause... that coupled with the fact this problem went unnoticed and was deteriorating over time due to high speed of the 360's DVD drive.
wow that sucks, try to keep your system stable, and install the game to your HDD
I know it's common sense but nobody has mentioned it yet: You should NOT ignore cracked discs. These things can and will eventually explode in your drive, causing massive damage to it. Replace, install or THROW IT AWAY. A cracked disc (even a new $60 game) is NOT worth needing to take your Xbox in for repairs.
I've never had that happen to me thank god.
If you install cracked games to HD successfully ur kind of safe because the disc only needs to spin for a second to verify that you own that game then it never has to spin again.
Yes my Brothers In Arms: HH is cracked on the inner circle. It's weird because I put all my game back into the cases when not into play.

The one thing I did was I put scotch tape around the damaged area(not sure if this throws off the disk when spinning in the XBox) and I put the disk in the booklet (to avoid scratching) in the case so I wouldn't have to use the case insert.
If you start getting this problem it may be safer to store those games in a DVD wallet where the discs slide in and out - that way there won't be any need to put pressure on the middle of the disc as happens every time you put it in or take it out of a regular plastic case
Hi, i know this post is really freaking old but i have the same exact problem as the subject post. I bought street fighter 4 a couple of months ago and i play it frequently but yesterday at a freinds house ,my freind pointed out that the center of my disk has some minor cracks and may be ''chipping'' on the plastic center rim.It looks almost identical to the screenshot the persons disk who posted this topic alas without the chunk missing,it does however have minor cracks. Now i take good care of my games and am when taking the disk out ,but like the person who posted this said, i never thought twice of ''clicking'' the game back into place,on the push release xbox 360 case, hell i didin't even know that can happen, seeing as i place them so delicatly, this is a first for me and i am quite worried. As of now however the game works perfectly with no errors or weird sounds coming from my 360,because as i said the cracks are minor, but the reason i am ranting about all this is because im wondering what is the best solution to this,Initially im wondering if i should just place my game into a cd/or dvd plastic casing and continue on normelly or should i download the game into my HDD, or (im trying to avoid this) rebuy the damn game. And if i choose to simply change the game casing,do i have to worry about the game cracking further?Because i am really not looking forward to rebuying a game disk for a problem that shouldent even exist. thank you for your time.
Wow, never have any of the plastic tabs inside the cases cracked that part of any disc I have - try being more cautious when putting your games in their cases. Press down the center release button with greater force then usual.
Yeah for sure,i don't think im going to use the game cases anymore just in case as well, im just paronoid if the disc cracks will worsen somehow
If you look carefully at every game you own the caseing is different with almost everyone theres no point to adding new ones why doesnt microsoft just keep one and stick with it.
yeah i noticed that just now after double checking all my game cases.
this thread is almost a year old, stop bumping it please
