Well this has happened to a couple of my friends, but i dont know your particular situation [if the disc is completely broke(snapped) or if just a large scratch] well here is an explanation that is mildly detailed:

that install thing for the hard drive only reduces load times and such, but it will help your disc a little if it is messed up because it will have the data stored on the hard drive. This is one way you can see if it fixes, if it doesnt your out nothing. If you have the money for a USED* (*important it used or else cant return) copy of the game from Gamestop(Reasons being for Gamestop you can buy a used game and if in a period of 1-7 days you bore of it you can return it and get a full refund), take the good game/not scratched and install it on your hard drive and see if it works then there are 2 options



1. It worked, so glad to be of help

2. It didn't work, sorry to waste your time, you now have the option of take that used game back and get a full refund for it, or keep it
