I'm thinking of installing a couple of the games I play more frequently and I'm wondering if it's a good idea. What are the pros and cons?Is it a good idea to install games?
I think that it would be a good idea to install only the games you play a lot to your hard drive because it makes it easier on your 360. Is it a good idea to install games?
Yes it's a good idea.Pros:1. Faster loading on many games2. No 180db jet-engine-of-a-disc-drive to listen to3. You save $0.03 on your electric billCons:1. If you constantly install and delete games (I'm talking hundreds of times) you'll wear out your hard drive (but you won't, I just don't have anything to put under 'Cons')2. Takes... up... space? (Only a prob if you're rocking a 20gb)
I'd say install as many as you can. It'll ease the stress on your console, helping to give it a longer lifespan, and it quiets it down a lot. Sadly I've got no room, my poor old 20G is almost full. I'll have to try and get a new one soon though.
improves load times and less lag
I'd say do it if you have enough room load times are drastically faster and 360 doesnt make as much noise.
good idea its easier on your 360.
There's not one valid reason not to install games to the drive
I don't think it really matters that much. I have GoW2 installed in my hardrive because it kept going unreadable.
honestly i would only do it with longer games such as fallout 3, or games that take ages to load.... another thing is it speeds up the loading of textures in mass effect 1.wouldnt use it on games that have multiple discs like blue dragon, or games that just install stuff (fallout 3/ oblivion goty disc 2) for obvious reasons.just remember creating and deleting information a lot can lead to fragmentation, overall id say do it if ya got the space and have no plans on getting rid of the game as of yet.
just remember creating and deleting information a lot can lead to fragmentation
That's not an issuePutting saves on a drive would cause a higher degree of fragmentation then installing a game.
Absolutely no reason not to.
Loads are faster, and you don't have to put up with the noise of the disc drive.
