You have to win matches. Be on the winning team or be on the top 3 in lone wolves.

If you mean experience then you have to just keep winning matches. There probably are boosting methods .... but that kinda defeats the purpose
I found shooting people in the face helps! :P
I say by you just getting good and dominating games that you will eventually be able to level up. I find there is never a true easy way to level up in a game.

Ohh and like n00bkid said Bumper Jumper is a pretty good Button Layout. You can Jump (LB) and Reload/Pick up weapon/objective item (B), Change grenade (A), Melee (RB) or Zoom at the same time and can change direction (RA) and Jump or Melee (LB, RB) at the same time. Hope this helps you improve.
