My friend bought both of us Gold ONE time and it started renewing. He eventually caught on and changed his credit card number and got a whole new card and everything. They stopped charging for a while so our accounts got suspended. I went and bought a 3 month prepaid Gold card so I could play on Live again yesterday and I just got around to using it today. I signed into my account and low and behold I already had Live! Somehow they got my friends NEW credit card info! I rushed to account management and figured ''I'll activate this prepaid card and go cancel the credit card on Xbox.com'' I activated the 3 month card, went to Xbox.com, found account management (which is buried practically) and saw the remove button. I was ecstatic. But then I clicked it and it said I have to cancel the account in question, then remove the credit card. But since the account has 3 months of Gold membership THAT I JUST PAID FOR, that isn't a good decision financially. I am tired of Microsoft nickel-and-diming people over the stupidest things! All I can do now is TRY to contact Xbox Support and figure this out. Or wait 3 months and then worry about my friend being pissed.Xbox Live payment=The perfect way to *** ...
This is why I just use pre-paid cards because there's no hassle.Xbox Live payment=The perfect way to *** ...
Ive ahd xboxlive for around 5 years and never had an issue with there payments.Every year I want it renewed and they do it. If I want something changed or fixed I call them and no issues. If things are not working lik that for you then just use the prepaid cards as craig said.
This is why I just use pre-paid cards because there's no hassle.
Exactly! And you can get them way cheaper (just bought mine two weeks ago for $30 on walmart.com)!
sounds like a common problem ... which personally I think could be prevented by people being more careful and actually checking EXACTLY whats going to happen when you use your card and what your options are.I and many other have done and we have had no problems so you've only really got yourself to blame for not checking what would happen...I mean flame me if you really cant handle it but would you subscribe to any website without checking what they're going to do with your card first? no I dont think you would so why people do it with xbox live I dont know

I bought it one time, for $1 (it was a promo thing, now I know why) and it should give me the option to stop payment any time. SHOULD. But Microsoft makes money for a reason so I should have been more careful, you're right. Its just ridiculous that you have to cancel everything or add a new credit card to remove one.

No it doesnt but a quick bit of research on the net (or just gamespot as I did) would have had you sorted.
But on the flip side it is verging on a con that microsoft dont make it more obvious
using a credit card on the internet whether it is microsoft or any other website can allow for your number to get stolen and for them to apply additional charges and do all of this stuff my best advice is to tell your buddy whats going on and call support. my xbox red ringed about a week ago with no warrenty and other annoying issues and when my fiance called support they re registered our system for us(bought it used, bad idea) and worked with us with our remaining time on xbox live so im sure if you and your friend explained it to them they can fix it or at least manage a solution for you, just try to be calm and civil even though the situation is fustrating
I and many other have done and we have had no problems so you've only really got yourself to blame for not checking what would happen...
This is the correct answerEverything is in black and white what happens, if someone doesn't want to read the rules they shouldn't be upset when something goes wrong

ive noticed that paying yearly causes little to no problems although the debit cards mounted up and a few months ago i rang microsoft to have the info removed, now that was a pain.
Just to further my point.....''Payment. When you create a billing account, you enter your payment method. You must be authorized to use the payment method. You authorize us to charge you for the Service and for any paid feature of the Service for which you choose to sign-up or use while this contract is in forceusing your payment method. You will pay all charges in advance. We may charge you a different amount than what you approved. If it is a greater amount, we will tell you the amount and the date of the charge at least 10 days before we make the charge.''That's straight from Microsoft, in the terms you have to read before you sign up for live.Overall I don't see what the problem with credit cards and the 360 is. If you're responsible enough to have a credit card you're supposed to be responsible enough to handle your subscription to Live. All this stuff about ''well I had to change my card number and stuff'' just makes people look really bad like they're trying to pull a fast one. Everything on the service is presented for every single member in a clean and easy to understand way.
I never use my credit card to renew my subscription the Xbox Live, I always go to the store and buy me a subscription card.
Nope. i just buy one of those cards.
never had a problem and my credit card has been on file since halo 2 days
